Centered on the Laguna Lachuá National Park, one of the last remaining untouched tropical rainforest ecosystems in the area, the Eco-region Lachuá offers a natural paradise waiting to be explored for visitors. The region not only offers the warm, turquoise clear waters of the Laguna Lachuá, but also a rich living Mayan Q’eqchi’ culture, mysterious river canyons, undiscovered Mayan archeological sites, and unexplored limestone caves. This jungle is bursting with biodiversity, including wildlife such as jaguars, howler monkeys, tapir, and approximately 318 species of birds.
